Fall Colors of Georgia

This past weekend the whole family visited Blairsville, GA and the surrounding area. The fall colors were stunning and the family time was precious! Most of the pictures are of Ben’s side of the family. He has 5 siblings and some of them have little kiddos themselves. My immediate family lives in Sevierville, Tennessee so we took a short drive over to visit them for lunch at The Old Mill. (my favorite comfort food restaurant, believe me if you are ever in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee it is a MUST! I love the pot roast dish they have there and the corn fritters are to die for! Also there is a handmade pottery shop across the street that I have a few beautiful mugs from!)  So there are a few pics mixed in of my side of the family as well! We don’t get up to see the fall leaves every year, and in FL there virtually is no color change, so this was a special treat!

We visited Blue Ridge, GA and had lunch at Christy Lee’s Courtyard Grille. There is also an awesome restaurant right next door called Harvest on Main.

Later in the afternoon we drove to Brasstown Bald to hike up to the lookout. It is a short, paved hike that offers stunning views!

Afterwards we stopped at Pappy’s for ice cream that is only bearable in the fall if eaten by the fire outside. At least for this Florida girl.

The next day we went to the GA Mountain Fair. It is really nice to walk around and look at the homemade crafts, and eat some yummy treats like kettle corn. There is also a Bluegrass competition held in the auditorium.

Hawaii Part 1

As I said in my “About Me” section, Ben and I have been married for 6 years. When we got married we took a fabulous 10 day trip to California for our honeymoon. We had no plans set in stone, only that we would travel along the PCH and stop wherever our hearts desired. It was amazing. I still think part of our hearts are left somewhere between a tidepool and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  After our honeymoon we took a few tiny trips here and there over the years to places like Orlando, Tennesee, Georgia or Iowa (and of course the Florida Keys).  Most of those trips were with family and we never really went on a trip just the two of us. We always said “on our five year anniversary we will go somewhere special”. Well five years rolled around and we were in the middle of flipping a house. Said house sold a few months later and we decided it was finally time for a trip. Therefore we spent our 6th anniversary in KAUAI, HAWAII! I can’t say enough good things about the incredible hotel we stayed at, The Grand Hyatt Kauai, the staff was superb, basically you just felt like you might be in heaven. Anyways enough blabbing, here are some pics from our visit.

We arrived to Kauai late at night so in the morning when we woke up, we were dying to explore! And thats just what we did! We walked around the tide pools and saw sea urchins and sea cucumbers and lots of cute little fish!

Ben upgraded our rental to a convertible so we could drive around with the top down. Best decision ever! We went on a sunset drive to explore the island on our first evening in Kauai.

We drove to a secluded beach and snapped a few pics!

On the morning of our anniversary, we woke up and walked up to the cliff next to Shipwreck Beach to watch the sunrise. This was also the morning we discovered the Iced Coconut Lattes. TO DIE FOR.

Yep. A blog.

So over the years people have suggested here and there that I start a blog, and I have played with the idea for a while.  To be honest I have had this blog for months just sitting vacant with no posts.  I decided to stop making excuses and just get it going! It’s not the most beautiful thing on the planet, but it serves its purpose. Minimalistic at its finest. Really what drove me to finally take the plunge is that we are about to buy our first house. We flipped a house last year with two other investors, I wish almost every day that I had documented the complete process! We didn’t get proper “before” pictures and its even hard for us to remember how much the house changed! Much less try to show people all that we did! This time, especially with it being OUR first house, I want to document it all. Before and afters, DIY projects and all. Also I have dipped my toes into the gigantic pool of photography and I wanted a place to share some of my pictures! I am not a poet, or an author… and often times I can’t even spell correctly, but a blog just seemed right at this stage in my life! Besides everyone’s doing it, right? HAHA… So follow along with me if you will… let’s see where this goes!
